POLICE STATION CLOSED AND PERSONNEL WITHDRAWN AFTER VIOLENT ATTACK IN KUKURANTUMI
By Osei Nathanael The Eastern Regional Police Command has announced the closure of the Kukurantumi Police Station and the withdrawal of all personnel following a violent attack by local youths on September 21, 2025. The Inspector-General of Police ordered the shutdown after the station and barracks were targeted with stones, clubs, and attempts to set the building ablaze. According to the press release the incident, which began around 7am, was triggered by the death of a suspect, Bright Kena also known as D-ball, who had been arrested for unlawful entry and stealing. The deceased passed away while receiving treatment at the Kukurantumi Community Hospital. Preliminary investigations indicate that angered youths attacked the station in response.
