The Greater Accra Regional Police Command has successfully arrested, prosecuted, and secured convictions against five members of a robbery gang linked to two major incidents in the region, including the high-profile attack on Jos Bakery in Dome and a separate robbery at ACP Junction.

The gang, whose operations sent shockwaves through the suburbs of Accra, was brought to justice through a series of covert police operations. According to a press statement released by the Regional Public Affairs Unit, the two main suspects—Isaac Agbezudor, alias “Money Man”, and Justice Akwasi Sarfo Oppong, known as “Gariba Manta” or “Demon”—were involved in a violent robbery at Jos Bakery on May 11, 2025.

“At about 1:25 a.m., the suspects, riding an unlicensed motorbike, attacked staff at the Jos Bakery Head Office and fired a pistol to instill fear,” the statement read. “They made away with a Tecno Pop 8 smartphone valued at GH₵1,500 and a handbag containing personal effects.”

Police say Agbezudor was arrested on May 14 following a covert operation and later led investigators to key evidence, including the weapon and clothing used in the robbery. His confession also identified Gariba Manta, who was arrested on May 22 at a mining site between Osino and Saaman.

The two were processed for court and convicted. Agbezudor was sentenced to 10 years’ imprisonment on two counts to run concurrently, while Gariba Manta received 15 years.

Further investigations linked Gariba Manta to another robbery on February 5 at ACP Junction, where a woman was robbed of an iPhone 11 Pro Max, a Samsung tablet, and GH₵6,000 in cash. The attack involved three other accomplices—Bright Alikor alias “Zaamani”, Emmanuel Nii Odartey Lamptey alias “Chameleon”, and Prince Owusu alias “Check Boy”. The suspects reportedly used a knife and scissors during the assault, leaving the victim with knife wounds.

“These individuals were apprehended through targeted operations and tried at the Kwabenya Circuit Court,” the police stated. “They were all convicted and sentenced to 15 years’ imprisonment each.”

Police are also pursuing another suspect in Koforidua who allegedly purchased the stolen iPhone.

Commending the efforts of its team, the Accra Regional Police Command said, “We applaud our intelligence and operations teams for their swift actions in arresting and securing convictions against all five suspects.”

Superintendent Juliana Obeng, Head of Public Affairs for the region, reiterated the police's commitment to protecting informants. “The Command assures the public, especially informants, of utmost safety and confidentiality in all engagements,” she said. “Together, we can make our communities safer and more secure.”
